Helping Hudson Week One Challenges

Well I am just scraping in for the week one challenges over on the Helping Hudson blog. You will have to excuse me but my mojo is severely lacking this week - life is getting in the way! First up is a sketch challenge.

Here is what I used:
Stamps: Cute & Curly
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch
Next up was a colour challenge to use Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Not Quite Navy. I actually did two cards for this one because I really didn't like the first effort but not that impressed by the second one either! Here is the first one:
Here is what I used:
Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly
Paper: Rose Red, Pretty In Pink, Not Quite Navy
Ink: Rose Red
Accessories: Butterfly Punch, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Pearls from Pretties Kit, Big Shot and Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Here is number two:
Here is what I used:
Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Very Vintage (Wheel)
Paper: Pretty In Pink, Rose Red
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Pretty In Pink, Rose Red
Accessories: Paper Doilie, Pearls from Pretties Kit, Dimensionals
Last but not least was the technique challenge which was rock & roll. This is where you use a light and dark ink and stamp the light colour first and then roll the edges of the stamp in the darker colour. I also used this weeks sketch from Clean & Simple stamping for this one.

Here is what I used:

Stamps: Great Friend (coming again soon!), Stem Sayings

Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Cottage Wall DSP

Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence

Accessories: Filigree brad

So there they all are just in time - don't forget to check out the Helping Hudson blog and make a donation for a worthy cause.

Finally A Few Cards

Sorry I know I have been slack. I have been creating but just don't have time to do everything! Well last Friday was Laurel's 11th birthday and here is the card I made for her.

If you look closely you can just see the Dazzling Diamonds on the love heart eyes and one tooth. Every girl likes bling right! Here is what I used:

Stamps: Just Jawing
Paper: Pixie Pink, Whisper White, Unknown DP
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: DazzlingDiamonds, Ribbon, Brad

The next card was for a challenge over on Our Creative Corner - to use blues and greens to celebrate Summer. Well it is definitely not Summer here - it's freezing but I joined in the fun anyway! This was also using this weeks sketch (TESC118) from Taylored Expressions. It does look a little washed out in this photo though.

Here is what I used:
Stamps: Circle Circus, On Your Birthday
Paper: Soft Sky (retired), Whisper White, Kaisercraft Spirograph DP
Ink: Soft Sky (retired), Certainly Celery
Accessories: Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Dimensionals, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8"Circle Punch
This next card was for Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #29. Cindy is hosting this week as Makeesha is OS and she challenged us to use something from our stash. Now I love paper. I buy heaps of it but then I just admire it from afar and don't like to cut into it. So my challenge now to myself is to use those hundreds of sheets of beautiful paper I have! I have had this paper with the matching brads for ages and I think it is just perfect for a teen girl.

I have also been practicing those fab faux bows from the video tutorial by Teneale Williams - I finally did one I'm happy with! Here is what I used:

Stamps: Just Jawing (inside)
Paper: Old Olive, Whisper White, Skull Girl DP by Kaisercraft
Ink: Old Olive
Accessories: Skull Girl Brad by Kaisercraft, Old Olive Ribbon, Embroidery Thread, Pink Pirouette Button, Dimensionals, 1 3/8" Circle Punch

Hope that keeps you going for a little bit and happy stamping!

A New Addition and A Challenge

Well I had a little blogging hiatus. Was a bit busy producing a new son! Archer Thomas Byers arrived into the world on Tuesday 11th May at 4:02am. He was born by emergency c-section as things got a bit hairy there for a while. He weighed 3.6kg/7lb 9oz and 51cm long. He is just beautiful if I do say so myself and is just like a mini Oscar I think. Here is a picture of him with his dad just minutes after birth.

Archer is such a good baby that I have even had time to do some cardmaking! Decided to join in with this weeks sketch challenge over on Taylored Expressions (TESC113) to make this card for my nephews birthday which was Monday but I'm sure they will understand if its a little late (hope).

Here is what I used:

Stamps: Lots of Bots

Paper: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Unknown DP

Ink: Pacific Point, Staz-On Black

Accessories: Circle Scissor Plus, 1 3/8" Square Punch, 1 1/4" Square Punch, Dimensionals

I paper pierced the robot with some of the DP and then coloured him with my Stampin' Write markers. He is very cute I think.

Hope you have a stamping day,

Bec

Mad May

Sorry I know, I know have been missing in action. I have been doing heaps of stamping though just haven't got around to blogging about it. Have found myself super tired in this last month of pregnancy and when I would normally be creative at night am tucked up in bed instead! Good news though this baby is coming out on Monday! Can't wait am super excited but nervous all the same.

May is a nutso month for us with heaps of birthdays and mothers day. Here are a couple of cards I have made recently. The first one was for a little friend's 6th birthday and I used the colour combo from Curtain Call 27 over on Stacey's Stamping Stage. I am super late to link to the challenge but still.

I have been using my new big shot and the Top Note die like a woman possessed and now I have all these "frames" left over which I thought was a shame to just toss out. I think this frames a picture nicely although there is probably a bit too much white in this one for my liking. I also wanted to highlight the set "A Little Treat" and how it can be used without the sweet treat cups as well. I also cased the star from the amazing Teneale Williams. Here is what I have used:

Stamps: A Little Treat, Stem Sayings

Paper: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette

Ink: Melon Mambo

Accessories: Big Shot, Top Note Die, Large Star Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 1 3/8 " Circle Punch, Sizzix Stencil Alphabet Sizzlits, Dimensionals

The next card was for our big girl (Alex is really our niece but came to live with us at the tender age of 2 when her mum passed away) who turned 17 on the 1st May! I used the same colour combo and the Just Add Ink #15 challenge.

I once again used the amazing Teneale for inspiration for the bow. She has an awesome video tutorial on her blog to show you how to do these. I didn't have any string handy though so mine is a little bulky but not bad for a first go. Here is what I used:

Stamps: Good Friend, Picture This (new hostess level I set)

Paper: Certainly Celery, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Melon Mambo

Ink: Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Soft Suede

Accessories: SAMJ, Silver brad, Certainly Celery Ribbon, Dimensionals

Well thanks for dropping by - can't promise another post real soon have heaps to do before bubs arrival and I guess it depends on how well behaved it is as to how much blogging I get to do! Happy mothers day if I don't post before hand.

Having a Blast with Challenges

Got even more stamping done yesterday than I thought possible. It was great! For this one I combined two challenges - SSSC56 over on Karen Giron's blog and Inkspirations #18 Colour Challenge on Makeesha Byl's blog.

Stamps: Pun Fun

Paper: Very Vanilla, Ruby Red, Brocade Blue and Brocade Blue DSP from Hostess Patterns Pack II

Accessories: Dimensionals, Ruby Red Brad, Circle Scissors Plus

For the colour challenge I was struggling to incorporate Mellow Moss but I think you can just see a hint of it on the rocket.

Have a great day - sun is shining :)

These are the last few I haven't got around to uploading. This was for CC246 over on Splitcoasters which was to use Pretty in Pink, Old Olive and Bermuda Bay (I used Taken with Teal as Bermuda Bay is an American In-Colour). I used the card sketch for SC256 over on Splitcoasters for this one. My hubby brought home from work this cool plastic beady things which I thought looked like snow - the hard bit was making them stick! I ended up using spray on adhesive. Here is what I used:

Ink: Staz-On Black, Baja Breeze

Accessories: 1 3/8: Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Rhinestone Brad, Dimensionals: Non-SU "snow pellets" and ribbon

I can't believe Christmas is next week. I am madly trying to get everything done but so far am not getting very far. Some nasty migraines have been keeping me down and kept me behind schedule. Here is a Christmas Card that I did a while ago. This was for IC204 on Splitcoasters.

Happy Birthday Baby!

Well yesterday was my hubby's birthday and we had a lovely day out to lunch with the family. I got him a new golf club that he has lusted after for a while - it was so funny to see his face, I think I actually surprised him for once. I don't think he has put it down since - even taking it to work today to show the "boys". I honestly expected to wake up with it in bed with us! This is a card I made for my nan to give to him.

Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Short & Sweet

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Very Vanilla, Unknown DP

I coloured the tree with markers in the different colours to give it a variegated look and used twin to make it manly as ribbon just doesn't cut it!

Must get on and make some Christmas cards now - haven't event started! Can't believe how quick time has gone - even harder to believe that I am 16 weeks pregnant today and have started to feel the baby wiggle about. Makes is seem a bit more real!

Happy stamping
